Nachtmystium – Nachtmystium (2003)

I’m no expert on Nachmystium (only having heard the skull tits album (you know the one) and I saw them live at Roadburn once), I was not previously aware of the harsh, grim and possibly frostbitten beginnings. Less sprawling than their later works, and definitely with fewer external influences, this self-titled EP is cold black metal to the core, with dodgy production to top it all off. Would you have it any other way? Open the frozen jar of bees….
