Iron Maiden – Senjutsu (2021)

Maiden were one of the bands on my “fill the gaps” project, because as famous as they are, to date I’ve not really heard that many of their full lengths. I tend to go through chronologically, but I made an exception for Senjutsu as its hot off the presses.

My first impression is that this thing was going to be slow and boring, and to be fairly honest, the first few tracks were just that. However, after a while, the whole thing opens up, and becomes a whole other journey. It’s a bit of a plodder, but there’s a sharpness to the songwriting, even if Bruce’s voice has mellowed.
