Limp Bizkit – Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavoured Water (2000)

I haven’t heard this album in about 18-20 years. The sheer scope of those years alone crushes me with the reminder of the ceaseless march of time, but it’s also a reminder to me that my Limp Bizkit “fandom” belonged in a time and a place, and has, thankfully, stayed there.

I have nothing against Limp Bizkit, or specifically Wes Borland, Sam Rivers and John Otto in particular, who are enormously talented musicians, but I can safely confirm that the Chocolate Starfish has not aged well at all. Despite some big choruses and riffs, this is a loooooong, boring album with long, boring songs. The shout out to Ben Stiller is absolutely fucking cringe, by the way.

I remember being bored of this when I was a nipper too, and I always preferred the Significant Other record to this one. Hey, the rap version of “Rollin'” with DMX, Red and Meth is pretty class though.
