Godflesh – Crush My Soul (1995)

When I was a kiddie (well, teenager) still new to all of this shit, I got this CD from Earache Records’ webstore for next to nothing. Back then, I couldn’t decide if the huge 15 minute and 17 minute reworkings of tracks from Selfless was a good idea or a bad one. To be honest with you, today I am in the same boat. The “Psychofuckdub” version of “Xnoybis” absolutely does not need to be 17 minutes long, in any world. The “Ultramix” of “Crush My Soul” has a little bit more going on, but even on that one, perhaps unsurprisingly after 15 minutes the same bassline starts to get a little old.

An interesting relic from the past, but one I’d say that is only of any real value to Godflesh fanatics or physical media collectors.
