Madvillain – Madvillainy (2004)

November 18, 2024

Was runnign through some MF DOOM shit and was surprised to find that I hadn’t written about this one yet. I think, as with a lot of people, Madvillainy was my introduction to both Madlib and MF DOOM, and I instantly fell in love with this thing. Honestly, the production on this record makes me feel like I’m stoned without even touching the green stuff. There are so many highlights, that it would be trite of me to even point them out.

As for the vocals, the flows are so effortless and smooth that it almost feels like no thought has gone into them at all and they just roll off the tongue like some sort of hazy rambling, but the reality is that they are so expertly crafted it often boggles the mind how good they are.

But yeah – you don’t need me, 20 years after the fact, to tell you how great this thing is. Get on it!
