X-Ray Spex – Germfree Adolescents (1978)

The best thing about X Ray Spex is super cool frontwoman Poly Styrene. There is nothing wrong with XRS musically – the brass is actually a refreshing touch on the regular early punk template – but her voice is what keeps me coming back to this record. I love the way it like, I dunno, breaks (I’m shit at describing vocals, sorry).

I first heard this group when Casey Chaos from Amen put them on a Kerrang! Magazine CD.
