Stephen Rippy, Chris Rippy, David Rippy & Kevin McMullan – Age Of Empires OST (1997)

This has to be one of the greatest game soundtracks of all time (I probably say that about every game soundtrack to be honest). It is very difficult for me to not look back at stuff like this with rose-tinted glasses on. These games were a huge part of a childhood that was perhaps misspent playing silly games instead of being outside playing (although to be fair I did a good amount of both, I wasn’t a complete bedroom dweller).

Therefore I suppose these kinds of soundtracks remind me of better times when the world seemed like a less terrifying place and times where I had no real cares or worries. But of course, I didn’t know that at the time. 

Anyway, I gave this soundtrack another listen recently for old time’s sake and I still really enjoyed it. There’s a strange mix of styles here, where the Rippy brothers (I assume they are brothers or cousins?) use a mix of new vs. old to give a really cool and interesting OST.
