Ancestors Blood – Return of the Ancient Ones (2008)

Beautiful compositions of meandering riffs and excellent accompaniments in the forms of various keyboard sounds and other traditional instrumentation (whether virtual or otherwise). The easiest comparison I could make would be early Winterfylleth, but the vocals here are much more harrowing, and the guitars are little bit more “evil”, if I could be so trite as to use that as a descriptor. Production is fantastic; clear and vivid, with the drums in particular sounding absolutely brilliant.

There is a slight lull in the middle of the run time which does drag the record down a little bit but for the most part this is really good.
