Profanatica – Weeping In Heaven (1991)

If you can take one look at that record sleeve and resist listening to this thing then you are a stronger man than me. The guys are wearing “corpsepaint” but this predates most Norwegain stuff, which is kinda cool. I’ve been coming back to this thing on and off for a while, and despite its unsatisifyingly short run time (it is a single after all, I guess), I am hooked on the messy, uncompromising nature of Profanatica’s blend of “black” and “death” metal. The production is what you would expect, but everything is nice and coherent and really packs a punch. Great shit.
