I’ve had this CD for like 17 years now so I should probably review it.
The Cunt Grinder stuff takes a while to get off the ground, taking Gut-inspired procrastination tactics (ie Atmosphere lol) but we’re all secretly hoping they’ll just get to the point. When they do, intros and samples aside, this is some chunky, riff-heavy stuff. Offensive and abrasive, but with a well-rounded and sharp production, there is genuine heft to their material (the snare drum kinda sounds like Obsolete era Fear Factory though).
Satan’s Revenge On Mankind are the undisputed kings of slo-mo fuzzed out groovy gore. I will happily take recommendations for bands that sound like these guys. This shit is tight – almost as tight as that fukken snare drum! A true lesson in (unholy) groovy gore and / or pornogrind.
In regards to Hymen Holocaust, this is what it must sound like to be trapped inside one of those machines at a sewage processing plant. The sound is looser, sloppier even, compared to the other bands here, but if anything it just makes everything sound all the more organic. HH gives us a session of horror-movie inspired gory slop to round out this split.
