Voivod – Kronik (1998)

A bit of a mixed bag, but such is the way of compilation albums. The first half – or two thirds – of this thing is fairly solid. Granted, danceable industrial metal is not the reason why most people come and listen to Voivod but if you enjoyed the E-Force albums then this is a natural next step. Some of this is very similar to Godflesh, at least their more drum’n’bass-focussed stuff.

The record rounds out with a bunch of filler live tracks that are no doubt of interest to Voivod purists but not much use to basically anyone else on the whole planet (or entire universe).
