Carcass – Swansong (1995)

I recently did a run through all the original Carcass records, ending with the rather perplexing Swansong. I’m not the world’s biggest fan of Heartwork either so this one has always stood out like a sore thumb to me. My recent re-listen hasn’t changed that, but its probably the first time I’ve ever sat through the whole thing in one sitting.

Swansong was an interesting time for Carcass. They had split by the time it came out, with both the band and their major label unable – or unwilling – to work with each other. Earache mopped up by finally releasing this, but it may have perhaps best been left unheard.
