CunningLynguists – A Piece Of Strange (2006)

CunningLynguists are a group whose name I’ve seen about the place quite a lot, but I’d never gotten around to checking them out until now. I guess if you’re a frequent reader of LIW (poor you) you’ll notice that this is a recurring theme, what with the sheer amount of music out there to be heard, so I’ll cut to the chase.

A Piece Of Strange is a lovely slice of introspective hip hop, full of thoughtful prose and fantastic flows. There’s a whole bunch of guesties here, including (I think) Immortal Technique. The production is solid and some of the beats are fantastic, including one that mashes up The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown. Nicely done!
