Cradle Of Filth – Thornography (2006)

Thornography could happily be considered the sister release to its predecessor, Nymphetamine. It was also the last album to feature Adrian Erlandsson on drums. It is also, unfortunately, nowhere near as good as Nymphetamine ever was.

Don’t get me wrong, there are some great songs here, if we’re going song by song. Its just as a Cradle Of Filth studio album it lacks in several of the departments at which they usually excel: speed, intricacy and epic fuck off tracks. Granted, not every track has been this way, and there has been something of a thawing of the bands material (compare Nymph to Vempire for example), but Thornography seems to be a one trick pony. Nothing particular exciting or adventurous happens at any point throughout the album.
